Booking and payment
How do I book a tour?
Call our dispatch office on +40 752 917 592 (24/7). Tell us the date, the tour, how many you are and where you start (Tulcea or Sulina). There is no online form: bookings are confirmed by phone.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. Tours run by prior booking only, with a 30% deposit of the total cost. Our dispatch office tells you how to pay when we confirm the booking.
Is the price per person or per boat?
For most tours the price is per boat: the boat is for your group only and the price depends on how many you are. Some tours from Sulina also have a per-person price in a shared group. Each tour page states which applies.
Can the price be negotiated?
Depending on the season and the number of trips, yes. Ask on the phone, especially off-season or if you book several trips.
Can I cancel or change my tour?
Call our dispatch office as early as possible. Cancellations and moving the tour to another day are handled by the dispatch office, case by case.
On the day
Where do we start?
From Tulcea, at the pier next to the Harbour Master's Office, or from Sulina. In Sulina we can start where it suits you, usually on the waterfront. The exact spot and time are agreed when you book.
How do I get to Sulina?
There is no road to Sulina: you get there by water only. Regular speedboat services leave Tulcea every day; the timetable and fares are on www.tulcea-sulina.ro.
How long does a tour take?
From 3–4 hours (the Danube mouth, Lake Roșu, Lake Lumina) to a full day of 8–10 hours (Letea, Mila 23, Sfântu Gheorghe). Each tour page shows its duration.
Can I bring children?
Yes. Children aged 2 and under travel free. Older children pay the full price and get their own seat. We have a life jacket for every passenger; tell us the children's ages when you book. For any other questions about fares, call our dispatch office.
Can we have lunch on the way?
Yes, on long tours we stop at a guesthouse or fishery for a fish lunch (about 70–120 lei per person). Lunch is provided by third parties and paid separately on the spot.
What if it rains?
We have covered and open boats and pick the right one for the weather, so normal rain does not stop the tour. In strong wind or storms we do not go out; our dispatch office offers you another day.
Can I bring my pet?
Ask our dispatch office when you book.
About the Delta
When is the best time for a tour?
May and June for birds (pelicans, herons, cormorants) and greenery. July and August for water lilies and long days. September and October for quiet and the autumn migration. The covered boat also runs in early spring and late autumn.
What should I bring?
A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, water, a light jacket (it is cooler on the water), mosquito repellent and binoculars if you have them. For Letea, comfortable shoes.
Do I need a Reserve access permit?
The Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (ARBDD) requires a visitor access permit. We tell you when you book whether you need one and how to get it.
Which routes do we use?
Only on the tourist routes approved by the ARBDD. The full list, by water and on land, is on the Tourist routes page.
